  Abe has introduced new economic ideas to address the domestic economic problems since becoming the Prime Minister, which has brought about a great debate over them in the country. In practice, Abeconomics has achieved initial results, but its future depends on such factors as whether the loose money policy would continue to affect economic growth, the Abe Cabinet would get rid of the long existing structural contradictions and the US would allow the Japanese Yen to remain weak.

 

The Impact of the Great Oil and Gas Discovery in East Africa and China’s Responding Measures

  Since the beginning of the 21st century, the great oil and gas discovery in East Africa has drawn the global attention. This article has followed the historical process of this great discovery in East Africa and its latest developments, analyzed its impact on energy supply and economic development in Africa and the world as whole, and expressed concerns over whether East African countries would suffer from the natural resources curse. Meanwhile, this article also made some suggestions to the Chinese oil and gas companies participating in the oil and gas exploration and extraction in East Africa.  

 

Achievements and Challenges of Regional Economic Integration in SACU

  With relatively complete cooperation framework and operating mechanism established in SACU, effective cooperation is going on in many fields. Nevertheless, as prominent issues exist in the feasibility of the common decision mechanism, consistency and continuity of the economic policies, and the stability of the tariff allocation policy, SACU is confronted with problems of different interest appeals and balance of power allocation among member states. As a result, SACU has to further explore its way to regional integration.

 

GCC in the Context of Global and Regional Economic Governance

  The Pan-Islamic foreign policy of Saudi Arabia was formed during the time of King Feidal, which extended and developed to different degrees in the foreign policies of the successive governments. Abundant petro dollars, rich religious heritage and inherent Islamic identity have paved the way for such a Pan-Islamic foreign policy. Saudi Arabia has tried hard to seek balance between its national identity and Islamic identity so as to safeguard and realize its national interest to the greatest extent possible.

TICAD V and Japan’s African Strategy

  Over the past half century, the US-Pakistan relationship has undergone six different phases, three of which were intimate and the other three of which were estranged, as there lacked common goal and strategic mutual trust between them. At the time when Sharif government is formed and the US is about to end the war in Afghanistan, the US-Pakistan alliance is faced with another major choice of direction. In the near future, the two countries are likely to maintain “a low-level alliance” with limited space for development and such an alliance is relatively instable.

  That President Mulsi is ousted by the military has indicated that the Islamic road pursued by the brotherhood will not work in Egypt and the military has profound political influences. Currently, the brotherhood is reacting violently and the chaotic situation in Egypt is developing. As long as the military remain in control, there will not be an upheaval or a civil war in Egypt. However, the overall boycott by the brotherhood will directly affect the smooth implementation of the roadmap worked out by the military.

 

Is the Kimberley Process Failed?

  The Kimberley Process is an international initiative, which intends to stop the illegal trade of “conflict diamond”. Recently, some actors believed that this process is failed as it failed to resolve the Zimbabwe issue. This article, by following the evolution of this process, analyzed its achievements and inadequacies from the viewpoint of its design and standard matching and deemed that its effectiveness and flexibilities should be recognized though there is a need for reform so as to get out the present low state.

Nonetheless, as limited by the ability of national governance and international environment, the social risks and supervision dilemma of private security sector participating in the public security governance are evident. Only by seeking to reinforce the ability of security governance of the public sector, will it be possible to resolve the issues fundamentally and better safeguard the public interest nationally and socially.
