Dispute over the Diaoyu Islands

  The dispute over the Diaoyu Islands has exerted great impact on China-Japan political and economic relations, resulting in their bilateral investment suffocated, trade volumes greatly reduced, the purchase of each other’s treasury bonds and the direct trading of the yuan baffled, and that the China-Japan-South Korea FTA negotiation failed to be held as expected within the year. Nevertheless, the dispute over the Diaoyu Islands is not all of China-Japan relationship, and economic sanctions can only result in lose-lose situation. To repair their political relations as soon as possible and bring their economic relations back to normal will serve the fundamental interest of both countries.
